Women artisans from all over the world have helped me connect to culture and place. Whether it was Saturday market in Myanmar or a roadside peddler in the Atlas mountains of Morocco, I was able to learn about her life, family, and skills. Purchasing a small handmade textile—a napkin or tablecloth —helped me support her and deepen my remembered connection.
